Join Our Expeditions

To reduce any barriers for our participants, Badges & Backpacks will supply all necessary equipment and supplies needed for the expedition. This will include items to hike, camp, raft, fish, and a monetary stipend for food/town activities. Participants will be allowed to keep all the equipment received from Badges & Backpacks to promote personal future activities within nature therapy.

Meet the 2018 Inaugural Ozark Highlands Trail Expedition Participants


Elizabeth Laut

Elizabeth works for the Greenwood Police Department, located in Indiana. She has served on the department for 3 years and intends to have a long, fulfilling career as a Police Officer. She comes from a Law Enforcement family and is happy to carry on the tradition. Elizabeth hopes to learn a few tricks on the trail, bring something back to her department, and have a relaxing time.



Erin Schenck

Erin grew up in Indiana and been working in public safety in 2005, with the Eli Lilly Fire Rescue.  In 2012, she joined the Greenwood Police Department, in Greenwood, IN. When Erin is not working, she enjoys working on house projects or snuggling with her dogs.



Zachary Vincent

Zak is 36 years once and grew up in Western Pennsylvania, where he attended the University of Pittsburgh.  Later, he moved to Indianapolis where he continued his public safety career, as a dispatcher for Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. He was hired to the Greenwood Police Department and has served as a Patrol Officer, since 2008.  As a member of Greenwood Police Department, he has had the opportunity to serve as a Motor Officer, a Field Training Officer, and a Firearms Instructor. Zak has 2 daughters, ages 4 and 6, and when he is not working he spends much of his time trying to keep up with them!
